Skater, a prominent figure in James Herbert's horror novel "Others," is a disturbed and volatile young man. His real name is never revealed; he's solely known by his moniker, a reference to his favored method of transportation and rebellion – skateboarding.

Skater's backstory is shrouded in ambiguity, but it's evident he hails from a dysfunctional and abusive family. This upbringing fostered a deep-seated resentment towards authority and societal norms, manifesting in acts of vandalism and aggression.

He is a key member of the Riders, a brutal gang that terrorizes the populace after a catastrophic event leaves London ravaged by a deadly plague and populated by grotesque, mutated creatures known as the "Others." Skater's role within the Riders is primarily that of an enforcer, displaying a chilling enthusiasm for violence and destruction.

Despite his outwardly menacing persona, Skater exhibits moments of vulnerability and internal conflict.
